English Language Development Textbook Adoption

English Language Development Textbook Adoption

Grants Pass School District's School Board is considering the adoption of English Language Development (ELD) curriculum for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. ELD curriculum is used specifically with students who have qualified for and are participating in our English Language Learner program. These are students for whom English is not their first language and this curriculum is designed to explicitly build English vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with structured supports for academic language.

ELD teachers, reviewed multiple curriculums and are recommending the adoption of National Geographic Learning, published by Cengage. Student and staff resources are hard copy materials which is an intentional choice as we strive for less screen time during the academic day. The materials being recommended will be for use beginning in August 2026.

Copies of all grade level student materials are available for review onsite in the curriculum department at the District 7 Administrative Office located at 725 NE Dean Drive (no digital access is available).

Materials are available for public preview and input through May 11, 2026. Please call 541-474-5709 with any questions.
